VIDEO INTERVIEW: Meir Dagan: Don't attack Iran's nukes

NOTE: "Former" leaders in Israel are deeply respected.  A "former" Mossad chief would probably be briefed or continue to be sought after for advice long after retirement, much like a former President would be asked for "input" long after he leaves the White House.  So, it is quite confusing to hear America's media quoting  Meir Dagan's interview on 60 Minutes, as if saying, "See, here's an Israeli who agrees with Obama" - a contradiction of PM Netanyahu's entire AIPAC speech on Iran.  Such a huge contradiction between the two men must surely cause dissentsion among the Israeli leaders and Israel's future!  Therefore, I was grateful to read Carl's brief comments on Israel Matzav about this issue and I do hope he posts more on this matter within the next few days.

There's been a lot of speculation here in Israel about why former Mossad chief Meir Dagan has become the pied piper for not attacking Iran's nuclear facilities. The consensus seems to be that he is angry at Prime Minister Netanyahu for not renewing his contract after the Mahmoud al-Mabhouh fiasco, in which the Mossad got their man, but the Mossad was shown to have used Israelis' passports from other countries to get into Dubai.

In the latest installment of Dagan's revenge, he is being interviewed on 60 Minutes Sunday night, and he says that Israel should forget about attacking Iran's nuclear program.

I have a preview of the interview that has been posted by CBS. I hope to have the rest for you first thing Monday morning Israel time (if not sooner).

In the meantime, let's go to the videotape

There is no way that Iran is rational. And there's no way the Saudis are going to convince anyone to attack Iran or that Obama will attack Iran. No way.

YNet claims that Dagan wants to foment regime change in Tehran.

"It's our duty to help anyone who likes to present an open opposition against their regime in Iran," the former head of Israel's intelligence service stated. He refused to say whether Israel had supported the youth groups that held demonstrations across Iran after the last round of Iranian elections.
I'll have more for you Sunday night or Monday morning.
